With my Instagram page, I am aiming to target the young adults as they are the most active and consistent in checking their pages. This group is so vital to my campaign because this is the group who is either about to go through this transition or have recently done so already. Finding this group, I found would be easiest through the social networking site, Instagram.
The messages that I want to convey on the campaign Instagram page are that we are building something that is more than just that, something. At The Farewell Club, we are fostering a community of love, compassion, acceptance, and acknowledgment. The love stemming from that we share amongst our own personal communities that support us through this difficult time and that we are to develop with this campaign. The compassion that so many retired athletes feel is lacked from others who aren’t in their position, never have been, and never will be. The acceptance that you’re no longer an athlete, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t still you and that you can’t hold that part of you near forever. It’s hard, and The Farewell Club gets it. Finally, the acknowledgement that what you’re going through is some real stuff. Real heavy stuff might I add, a part of you is gone and what you once knew of it or experienced of it is too. That’s not easy, and not a lot of people will acknowledge and even understand that. Overall, the messaging conveyed through the social networking site is to be one of a family. Yes, we do sell merch however that is so that we are able to continue to do what matters and that is develop this family of retired athletes who haven’t been heard or seen in their struggle. Until now.
This overall campaign’s brand is basically that of what I mentioned before that we are centered around authenticity. Because many of the conversations and topics we will dive into with The Farewell Club are hard hitting ones, we want the content to look and feel as authentic as possible. This ensures that the brand is one people are comfortable with, and overall if they are comfortable then the brand will be able to flourish. I wanted the theme of the page to be nostalgic, because I personally find nostalgia very beautiful. There’s something so amazing about loving something so much that it sticks with you for better and for worse, and even after it’s all over.
